IF I WAS TO BUY LAND IN DUNDEE NOW WOULD I BE TAXED?

By May 2, 2018 No Comments

Yes, if a Mohawk purchased land from a current owner on the open market, the land would have to follow the Additions to Reserve (ATR) Land Process and will be taxable until the land is transferred to Reserve Status. Through a settlement agreement, the MCA and Canada will establish a process, under the ATR Policy, that lands acquired in the selection area up to a maximum of 18,282 acres can be returned to Reserve Status. Once lands have been added to reserve they would be free from taxes.
